OK, I know the topic is music, but I feel the need to write a bit beforehand about homecoming. It sucked. The music sucked, the people I went with were awesome, but that can only get you so far... There was no dancing done, the guy I really wanted to go with refused to go (despite the fact that he wanted me to ask him. Aparrantly he discussed it at the dinner table with his parents, and his dad went off saying how awesome I was and why wasn't he going with me... >.>) ANYWAYS, back to the semi-relevant stuff. So I spent a night on which I had very little homework (because of a field trip to see Much Ado About Nothing the next day) writing codes for five different programs. Sure, they were just short, relatively simple if-then programs, but still... It turns out the guy doesn't have the program required to compile and then open them. >_< I sent it to another friend just to make sure that it worked on other computers, and she said that it just opened the code in a .txt file. It KILLED me. DX
ANYWAYS! ONTO THE MUSIC! I <3 music. Music=Life. It cheers me up when I'm down, it regulates my mood when I'm happy, and calms me down when I'm mad. Some of my favorite bands include Green Day (the old stuff, not the new stuff, though the new stuff isn't half bad), Metallica, U2 (again, the old stuff, not the new crap), OMD (Orchestral Manouvers in the Dark), Styx, Depeche Mode, Linkin Park (again, the older stuff), Seven Marry Three, Erasure, Collective Soul, Billy Idol, Rick Astley, Pearl Jam, Bullet for my Valentine, and broadway stuff, but I have many, many more. And they change pretty much every other day. :P I also like random songs, but not bands themselves, if that makes sense. Like Mike Posener's 'Cooler Than Me'.
I listen to almost anything. Almost. I refuse to listen to country, and most modern pop. 80's pop is good, but besides Lady GaGa, I don't listen to much if I'm not forced by my mom. I grew up listening to music with my dad, so I like a lot of 80's and early 90's music. We do disagree on some music, but very little. My mom and I, on the other hand, are constantly bickereing about music. Mine "hurts her ears", and hers just sounds like auto-tuned, digitalized crap. Not to say that I don't like techno, but Ke$ha? Really? And Justin Beiber? *Shudders* But anyway, I think you get the point.
I love musicals. I just do. I don't know why, my dad hates them (mostly), and my mom likes them, but not the way I do. I listen to all sorts of broadway soundtracks, from Spring Awakening, to A Very Potter Musical/Sequel, to Guys and Dolls, to Thoroughly Modern Millie, and everything in between. Especially Once More with Feeling, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical, and Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Because Joss Whedon is just awesome and hilarious. I love the music, and the way it gets incorporated into the stage action. It has always been my dream to be able to write a broadway musical, or even just a fun little thing, but alas... No such works will ever come from me.
I don't actually have much more to say on the topic of music, despite the fact that I have a ton of thoughts about it buzzing around in my head. None of them seem to want to be coherent enough to be written out. So for now, I shall leave you.

EDIT: OMG OMG OMG!!! I JUST FOUND THE SONG/MUSIC VIDEO I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR *YEARS*!!!!! It's called Monster by The Automatic Automatic. Here's a link to the vid: The Vid. SQUEE!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, The Automatic Automatic is a Welsh Rock Band, but they're only called The Automatic Automatic in the US and Canada because of a copyright conflict (there was already band called The Automatic). So if you happen to know them as The Automatic, that's them. They did 'Monster', 'Raoul', and 'Recover'.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I see, I thought I hadn't heard of them |:
ReplyDeleteThe Automatic ftw though >_<!
